Tie Dye Shibori by Master Abdullah Khatri

Bandhani is derived from the Sanskrit word “Bandha” meaning “to tie”. It is a traditional dyeing method indigenous to the states of Gujrat, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The fabric is tied very tightly plucking tiny pinches of the fabric by fingernails to create floral or figurative designs and then dye them into natural dye colours.

Bhujodi is home to the illustrious Shamji Vankar Vishram Valji who carries on the legacy of his father, Vankar Vishram Valji who was felicitated with the National Award in 1974 for his exemplary work in Dhabla weaving.

Shamji Bhai will be teaching a workshop in traditional bhujodi spinning and weaving, something truly magical and meditative that Mahatma Gandhi had all Indian freedom fighters adopt as part of their daily practice.

Cuando el Mamut aun vagaba por la tierra y los humanos vivían en cavernas, el arte del hilado parece ser que ya existía. A lo largo de los tiempos y en todas las civilizaciones las fibras de lana, de lino, de cáñamo, de seda, de algodón etc. se han hilado para convertirlas en tejido y poder abrigarnos, vestirnos o decorarnos.

Aunque en nuestras ciudades o centros comerciales la oferta textil es abrumadora… te invito a ir a contracorriente y a volver a las cavernas. Aprender a hacer tu propio hilo puede hacer que valores la belleza de las fibras naturales como se merecen y descubras lo mágico que puede ser crear con tus manos hilo para atar, tejer, tricotar…

Programa :

  • breve introducción a la historia del hilado

  • conoceremos diferentes fibras y sus cualidades

  • hilaremos: papel / lana mallorquina cardada / top de eco merino / rollos de mezcla de varias fibras

Catalina Fernandez llega a Mallorca de la mano de Juan Canaves, para ofrecer en Open Studio 79 un taller sobre Pócimas Alquímicas, apto para cualquier persona que sienta la llamada de la naturaleza.

En este taller se hablará sobre formas de cómo entrar en el mundo vegetal, de energía vegetal y corporal. Se aprenderá a hacer un tónico, jarabe, bitter, extracto, fermentado y ungüento. Podéis ampliar la información sobre este taller llamando a Juan Canaves.

Para este taller es necesario traer 5 frascos de vidrio de 100ml aproximadamente y dos más más pequeños para tus ungüentos y pócimas.

Taller de Shibori y cochinilla canaria

Desde Canarias llega Ivana, una gran experta en tintes naturales y creadora de la marca Savia de Oro. Formada con maestros artesanos como Nilia Bañares o Michele García su pasión por extraer color de la naturaleza le ha llevado a crear su propia marca de lencería con tintes naturales.

En este taller de tinte natural aprenderemos a extraer el tinte de la cochinilla canaria y también a crear diseños únicos sobre tela con la técnica japonesa de shibori. Os llevaréis a casa un pañuelo teñido por vosotros con este tinte tan mágico y especial.
